Hi Jim
Glad you're enjoying it, on the subject of which program I use Family Tree Maker, it is produced in various forms, some of the expensive ones have lots of data disks with them, which I have have never found of much use, its mainly American stuff, but the basic program I like and find very user friendly. For a discussion and other peoples points of veiw there is a section of rootschat devoted to the subject, from the start page go to the Common Room board and from there to the off shoot technical advice board about second or third subject down from there is a thread with links to various discussions of the different programs available.
Coming back to the Gadneys in Oxford - Thomas was born around 1766 (not 1772) and Gadney is not a common name in Oxford I have found a baptism in 1767 in St Martins Oxford of Thomas son of John & Mary Gadney, they also had John in 1761, Mary in 1762, another John in 1766, Kitty in 1769 and possibly another John in 1777.
I will have a look and see if I can find a marriage for John & Mary
