St. Benedict's, Norwich
« on: Tuesday 30 January 07 17:02 GMT (UK) »
Looking for information on a Mary Ulf or Ulph, who married James Stratford 16 Oct 1769, St. Benedict.   What is the bride's parish named in the marriage entry?

Also looking for her burial record as Mary (or perhaps Mary Ann) Stratford.  Her last child was born 1785.  Any help is much appreciated.

Hi, pompeyboy --

The St. Benedict's I am interested in is (or was) on the west side of Norwich.  It was bombed during WWII.  According to my Norwich map (circa 1963) it was  NNW of St. Giles' Church and SW of St. Swithin's.

Hi
I live in Norwich, and i am very sure that there are quite a few Ulphs in the city, and a few years ago there was a big gathering of that name. link below shows church etc, the problem with St Benidicts is that there a few churchs in the street, so where they married in the Church or did they live in St benidicts St.

Hello again, I thoroughly enjoyed the link to St. Benedict's and reading its history.  I was born in Norwich, migrated to the US with my family as a young child, have been back for a few visits through the years, but I don't think I have ever seen the remaining tower of St. Benedict's Church.  Now that I am doing my family history, I am learning about many of the old churches in the City, the ones whose bells I remember ringing so beautifully on Sunday mornings during a visit in 1963.  Thanks again.
