We have a William Sturla in our Family. He was born it appears, in Chatham about 1810. He worked it is thought in the Chatham maritime area. At some stage he goes down to Plymouth (shipyards again) here he meets a local girl Emela Brooking born about 1816. Brings her back to Chatham where they marry in 1838, William for the second time!! Why would they have come up to Chatham to wed? Was the Sturla Road in Chatham named after or connected with this William Sturla. By the 1871 Census it would appear that William and Emela have made their way to Limehouse and William is listed as a shipwright. Would this be a trade you could follow in Limehouse? Both end their days in Stepney which seems a long way from Chatham and Plymouth
