Hello Jim,

It is fantastic that you a Birth and Death Certificate, first we need to know what they can tell us.

The Birth certificate will tell us the Date and place of Birth, Full name, Mother's Maiden name and also fathers name and occupation.

The Death certificate should confirm the date and place of birth, and maybe tell us a little more such as widow of...?

What have you learnt from the Birth Certificate ?

Best Wishes

Jim, this is your friend from Canada. With all due respect, allow me to jump in here. This is what we're looking for:

JESSIE JACKSON, (daughter of merchant ABRAM JACKSON of Girvan) married JOHN MCNEILLY (son of WILLIAM MCNEILLY, brother of ALEXANDER MCNEILLY of Glasgow and/or Ayr) in 1879 in Grenada, West-Indies.
We are looking for info on Abram Jackson & family and William McNeilly & family.
The brothers John & Alexander “Sandy” McNeilly went to Grenada around 1875 as representatives of Thomson Hankey and Company of London.
About Jessie Jackson, we know the following:
Before moving to Grenada in 1879, Jessie was from Old Dailly, Ayrshire (near Girvan) and was born in Girvan Way, Croshill. She was an evangelist with a preacher named Powell in Glasgow. She may have worked in a baker's shop at Charing Cross. She had a brother Abraham, a brother Jim, and a sister.
One of John McNeilly's granddaughters RUTH LEEDHAM, moved back to Scotland and married a mister MCMILLAN. This McMillan family, related to all of the above, is reportedly still living in the Glasgow area.

McNeilly (Glasgow, Ayr in Scotland and Grenada West-Indies).

Dear Shamus,

If you are struggling to read the writing you can change the size  (this is size 6)
by looking for the button on the top column second from the right ! (this is size 4)
Best wishes
