I was wondering if anybody might be able to help me. I'm tracing my maternal grandfather's family and I've come to a dead-end.
My grandfather was John McDonnell (b.1931-d.1994).
His parents were Patrick McDonnell and Ellen Brett. I know that this was Ellen's second marriage, as her first husband died young, of a heart attack. I don't know if Brett was her maiden name or the name taken from her first marriage. She had two children from her previous marriage.
My grandfather's siblings were:
Michael McDonnell (a year or two older than my grandfather) - married a lady named Phillis who I believe still lives in Tipperary.
"Gerry" McDonnell (Gerald). All I know is that he named his children after the children of Our Lady of Fatima, Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia.
Alice McDonnell
Patrick McDonnell (a.k.a Austin) - currently living in South London, not exactly sure where.
Noreen McDonnell - married a man named John/Jack Croke and moved to America. She was a qualified barrister. She died last year. I believe her children are Antonette and John.
Any help that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
My grandfather moved to Mallow and married my grandmother Mary Lowe. They had three children, Michael, Concepta and Nora.
