WOOD family in Hunslet

Does anybody have any knowledge of the following family,
The father was born in Knottingley the children are mainly from Hunslet , West Yorkshire.

Children of William Wood b. 1866 Knottingley

Arthur
Beatrice
Edward
Frederick
Walter
William H   b. 1899
Herbert   b. 1911      Hunslet
Florence   b. 1914      

I only know the birth years for three of them , I believe that they will be between 1985 and 1915.
Are there any family out there or people with links to this family ?

Hello again Jim,

Yep! This family is in my tree.  You have three names that I don't have, Edward, Fredrick & Walter.  You also have some birth years that I didn't know, but conversley I have Beatrice's birth year, ABT 1897.

I think we need to put our heads together.  What thinks you ?

I'm itching with curiosity to know where you fit into the jigsaw puzzle.

To be honest I am not sure but my mum said her dad had a brother Herbert and that is on your list.
I am hitting a brick wall with my searches mainly because my mum is only remembering bits due to slight dementia I also don't have knowledge of where these places are.
What I know is Arthur Wood was my Grandather his full name used on my mum's bcertificate is Arthur Edward Wood dOB unknown but my mum remembers he lived all over the place City Road, Helped in his families business delivering coal and collecting rent money.
It may help me to at least eliminate this lead then keep looking.

Welcome to Rootschat.

Do you happen to know where and when your Grandfather died?  The index to the register of deaths should give an idea of his year of birth which could help.  Also if you know when he married your Grandmother and her name their marriage record might also provide further clues.

I am assuming both of your grandparents have passed away but if not please do not post details as we are not allowed to include information of living people on Rootschat.

Hi there,
Noticed there hasnt been any updates lately on this post.  Dont know if you found
anything else about the family since you last wrote on here.
Did have a look for some of the childrens dates of births.  It seems William
and his wife Susanna seemed to move to different churches and the last one
I found in 1909 was at the Free Methodist Chapel which is a non-conformist Church.
Cannot find all the childrens full DoB

Beatrice born 10th June 1897 and christened 11th July 1897 at St Peters, Leeds
William H  born 1898  and chris 27th September 1898 at St Aidans
Walter   born June 1901
Frederick born December 1902
Arthur Edward born December 1906
Edward  born 3rd February 1909 baptised February 1909 Free Methodist Chapel
Herbert  born June 1911 
Florence born     1914

All the children born and registered in Hunslet.

I think William married around 1895 but still trying to find it. There is
quite a few William Woods born in the Knottingley area about the same
time.  Could be cousins?
Susanna was born about 1876 in Hull. So unless William was married before Susanna
the children beginning with Beatrice born 1897 seem correct. Looks like
William was about 10 years older than she was.

I have a couple of alterations for you, William H Wood was born March 14, 1899 and Herbert Wood (my father) was born Apr 13, 1911 , died Sept 20 1994.

Their father , William Wood (who I know little about) was born in Knottingley to Thomas Wood and Mary Ann Thompson.

Sorry it has been a while but tried all sorts of sites and getting nowhere  fast, without certain things cannot get records but my mum's memory is vague these were all secret long story but short version her real mum died when she was 2 years her dad had to go and do service then when he came back after the war he contacted her and had meets once or twice a week as the grandparents were trying to bring her up as one of theirs.
What I have worked out so far he lived in Sheffield 5 area as did some of his brothers and possible cousins.
His family were coal merchants and other businesses like renting properties as his Mother used to collect rents my mum remembered that.
The coal merchants were Wood and I have searched websites gone to archives in Sheffield library and one person remembered them delivering in Parson Cross Sheffield and a slogan associated with the Wood name.
My mum and I went to where she thought he lived but it was confusing to her but he used to visit her mum's grave which was the city cemetery and lived close by.
