Hi Ya Willow,

I got Rose (Hannah) too but didnt put it in my tree, not sure about the step bit, like yourself! A birth certificate for one of the kids would be interesting  I bet, by the way did you ever find out who Elias father was? Same goes for the rest of Elizabeth childeren?

Cheers

Been contacted by a cousin who is decended from Elias's brother William. I've given him Rootschats address and told him to look us up

Yay more of the tree and hopefully he might have got past some of our brickwalls

Hi Willow,

How's things? Sounds good about the cousin, lets hope we can get some more people, new finds on the Colley's are a bit thin at the moment!

Some information on Edward Colley or Elizabeth Davis would be great, keep me posted ;D

Cheers

Hiya DTR

Just to let you know I have spoken to Ian. He is stuck on Edward and Elizabeth too but he says there is a an entry on the IGI (which seems to be playing up tonight!) for an Edward Colley christened in Hereford with parents listed as a William and Mary Atkins. There is also on the registry entry for Edward and Elizabeths marriage two witnesses with the surname Atkins. Could he have been adopted? Edward died 25.4.1843 from fever. Elizabeth is listed as being present at the death

He also tells me that he has Williams (b 1863) birth certificate and the father is listed as James Hughes the same as Rose Ellen. It looks like James Hughes is the father of Elias, James and Harriet although he and Elizabeth never married and he can be found in the census still living at home(Father Joseph - carpenter mother Harriet). He died 18.1.1874 from a 'visitation of God' (stroke) aged 34 (if I remember rightly) and was a carpenter - there was even a coronors inquest which would make great reading if we can ever find it. He has tried but had no luck

He is going to e-mail me a load of information so I will let you know

Willow,

Thanks for the update, apologies for not replying earlier, we had our 3rd babay in September and things are a bit mad at the moment (his name is Edward by the way and he is truly a fabulous boy!!!)

This all sounds compelling and I think we are close to maybe moving on a generation, I am pleased for you that you have confirmed Elias Father you must be really pleased and the information about Edward Colley is very interesting to say the least, I had an e mail from Ian to give him a call but with things being the way they are with work and new babies etc I did not get to read it until yesterday, I will drop him a line tonight.

Please keep in touch....you have my mail address I will try and keep up with things but forgive me if I am a bit slow to reply.

Keep smiling... :)

Cheers DTR

Hi Willow,

Did you get any further with Edward Colley?

I finally got round the checking a few things Ian told you that you said in your previous posting, apologies if you already know this but here goes:

Edward Colley that Ian told you about was the Son of Edward Colley and Mary Atkins, Born 1782 Bodenham Hereford, if Ian says he has a document from Edward and Elizabeth's Marriage with the Atkins name on it it stands a good chance he could be our man, in 1841 Census in Tibberton out Edward is listed as Born out of county (his Occupation was Canal Labourer).

What do you think ???

I have also found some more of Edward Colley and Mary Atkins children, these are as follows, all born in Bodenham Hereford:

Thomas Colley - 1780
Wiiliam Colley - 1785
John Colley - 1791
Mary Colley - 1795
Elizabeth Colley - 1799 - Died 1800
Edmund Colley - 1789

Does this take us any nearer?

Cheers

Dave
