Help!! No idea where in Australia

Hi everyone

Tracing hubby's family and found that one of his aunts emigrated to Australia during WW1 and married there.

She was Winifred Lottie Graves born 1897 in Walthamstow area of London.  I think she married someone called Jorgensen. Possible she had a few daughters subsequently.

Would be really grateful for some assistance.

I had a  quick look for you on the NSW Births Death and Marriages site:
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htm

But was unable to find a refrences for a Graves marrying a Jorgenson or for children born to Winifred Jorgenson but it might be worth a try using different spellings.

Hi

On the Victorian BDM website - free to search but pay to view - there is a Winifred Graves marriage to a Jorgensen.  I only searched, didn't view so not sure if it is your Winifred.

Edit - the Victorian BDM website has been updated and the new url is v v long [I did read how to deal with long url's but have forgotten :- ]  Have a look at the Victorian Genealogy links at the top of this board and you should find the address there.

There is a 1931  marriage
Wfred Lottie Graves married Karl Bertram Jorgensen 1931 Ref 6373

Karl Bertram died 1974, age 71 Father Karl John mother Laura Tucker Place Oakl Ref 23333
Cannot instantly see a death for Winifred - the CD goes to 1986. (but I am well known for missing spelling/transcription errors - someone else may find her).

A death certificate for Karl (if the right person) should list all the children. You can download them online at the site given by Cando.

G'Day from downunder,
A Karl Bertram Jorgensen, the son of Karl John Jorgensen and Laura Tucker died in Oakleigh ( a suburb of Melbourne, Australia ) aged 71 in 1974. The Registration Number for the death registration is 23333.

And Karl Bertram was born in Australia - same parents
Carlton 1903 - but the reference is  4577x1935 - so perhaps he found it wasn't registered when he went to register a child?

Blimey Sue - I thought he may have been too old - I checked for WWI  - Guess I shouldn't make assumptions! - Nice to see that his wife was Winifred
