1861 Lincolnshire (Fosdyke) Sarah Ann Barnsdale

Hi this is my first request so appologies if there's not much to go on.

Looking for a Sarah Ann Barnsdale. Birth registered Jan - Mar 1856. IGI records for a baptism suggest that her parents may be John and Sarah.

Also looking for her husband to be:  Jonathan Pearson born in Sutterton, Lincs. between 1850 and 1855.

They both lived in Fosdyke in 1881.

My great grandfather was James Barnsdale, christened July 13, 1823 in Fosdyke.  He had a brother named John, christened in 1820 in Billingborough, Lincolnshire.  John married Sarah and had several children, one being Sarah Ann Barnsdale, christened Nov. 16, 1856 in Fosdyke. This sounds like the Sarah Ann you are trying to find. The whole family can be found in the 1861 census when Sarah Ann was only 5 years old and living in Fosdyke.  It is very difficult to read, though.  I have much more info.  Are you a Barnsdale?

Thank you very much for the 1871 census information.  My Grandmother was Lizzie Pearson daughter of Sarah Ann and Jonathan Pearson. John Barnsdale married Sarah Rye ( I have Sarah Ann's birth certificate).
I also believe that Johnathan Pearson's parents were Matthew and Mary (Smith) (m. Mar. qtr. 1841 , Sleaford District). As you say It looks like a perfect match and I would appreciate any more information you have on them.

Lorene - There is a grave Stone in Fosdyke for a Martha Rebecca aged 15 who died in 1886 daughter of James and Elizabeth. Is this your James?

Well, not exactly

1851 looks something like

Moses? drain? corner
Waddinghams Chty

1861 address seems to contain (possibly) Waddinghams and is of similar length, so possibly the same.

If you put
Waddingham Fosdyke
into Google you will find that

"In 1684, Ann WADDINGHAM donated four tenements and a half acre of land for the poor here."

Chty will be an abbreviation for "Charity"

That's interesting.

In the 1881 Census Jonathan and family where shown as living in Par Row. On the maps of the time there is a Poor Row which stood, I believe, where the Village Hall stands now. At the back of the property is a large dyke known then as the Town Drain.
