How did you arrive in Lampeter, RuthieB? My father's people came from Carno and Trefeglwys, Montgomeryshire and I ended up in Aberystwyth (not now though) :)
Cheers Dave

I'm From Middlesbrough myself (NE England) but I'm at the University in Lampeter where I stayed on to work after my degree.  Some of my Montgomeryshire people (the Thomases I think) were from Trefeglwys and the Joneses reach back to Dolfor while the Owen(s) could well be Llandinam.

So many Joneses, so little time...!!

RuthieB
Jones, Mantle; Radnorshire
Russell, Stonehouse, Agar; Yorkshire/Durham
Brown, Fair; Durham,
Little, Cumberland
Morris, Woolley, Owens; Montgomeryshire.

My mum was convinced that her father's side lived in Wales forever, but it turns out that although her dad was born in Cardiff his parents were from Torrington, Devon (Bissett, I believe thats a Scottish name) and Bristol (Roberts). Although the Bristol side were originally from Abergavenny.
Her mothers side were Israel's, which can be traced backed many hundreds of years in Glamorgan and Monmouthshire, but originally came from possibly Holland. All very interesting.
I keep telling my mum she's English really, not to happy with that! A proud Welsh Woman!

Regards
Kate.

I always thought my father in law was of Welsh descent from Pentre, Glamorganshire.   It came as a bit of a surprise to discover his parents were from south Gloucestershire and Bath, Somerset.   Not 10 miles from where we've lived for 30 plus years  ;D
