COMPLETED - Jewish Marriage: Abraham & Hannah Braham?

Hello,

I am having a lot of trouble locating marriages, births etc for Jews (esp. in London).

In the 1841 Census I have found my great x 5 grandfather Abraham BRAHAM and his wife, Hannah in St George The Martyr. He is an artist born around 1791 outside of Middlesex. His wife Hannah is born in 1786 outside of Middlesex as well and dies in 1856.

I would really like to find their marriage and get some clue as to what her surname was or parents but I am not holding out much hope as I have tried almost every resource on the internet without any luck.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer your question I'm afraid and you've probably tried all of these but I'll post them anyway in case you haven't !!  .....  you say he was an artist in the 1841 census and Hannah died in 1856 .... were you able to get her death certificate ? did they have any children ? if you could get birth certificates .... it would give Hannah's maiden name !! do you have any family stories ... sometimes theres an element of truth that may give you a clue !

They had quite a few children all born in Chelsea I think.

Esther (1826)
Eliza (1829)

Benjamin (1829)

There may be others. Hannah died in 1866 - I got that bit wrong, sorry. Abraham was also called John in the census.

I have Abraham and Hannah on the 1861 and 1841 census - I'm having a bit of trouble locating them on the 1851 census. I don't know when Abraham dies so he may be on later census'.

Hi , you can write to the Synagogue in North Finchley, they will do a comprehensive search for a marriage but there is a charge, mine cost £15.00 a few years ago.  Let me know if you want the information.
