TRYING TO FIND DETAILS OF MY GRANDFATHER WHO LIVED IN ILKESTON DERBYS.
HIS NAME WAS SAMUEL WHITE A TEXTILE WORKER born about 1890? WHO MARRIED A POTTER SORRY NO CHRISTIAN NAME FOR POTTER ,  SOMETIME AFTER MARRIAGE THEY MOVED TO 106 ILKESTON ROAD AT TROWELL SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 1920/1930S
HE SERVED IN THE 1ST WORLD WAR AND I UNDERSTAND LOST A LEG DURING THIS WAR

Did Samuel have another name?
Names of children? Dates of birth?
your mother/father's birth cert should give their mother's maiden name

Samuel White is the only name I have this is from my mothers marriage certificate.
Samuel had two children Mavis Mary born 1921 and Geoffrey birth not known but not many years between them.
Samuel died while living at Trowell and died around 1948/9 I think as I know he was alive when I was born in 1944

This could be the Birth Registration for Mavis White:-

 White, Mavis M. June Quarter  1921 Basford 7b 459. Mothers Name Potter.

Basford Registration District covers Ilkeston area.

With this info you could risk purchasing this certificate.
