Birth - George Arthur Pashby 1880/1881? Scarborough COMPLETED, THANKS!

OK then - I admit defeat.

I've tried FreeBMD, I've tried Ancestry's built-in search system and I've sifted through the pages 1875-1881 myself but I CAN'T find a George A. (Arthur?)Pashby born in Scarborough who would be 1 year old in the 1881 census.

He certainly appears as 1, 11 and 21 in the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census, viz ...

1881 census: living at 31 Huntriss Row, Scarborough (RG11/4804 Folio: 158 Page:48)
1891 census: living at 5 Huntriss Row, Scarborough (RG12/3966 Folio: 90 Page: 42)
1901 census: living at 10 Aberdeen Walk, Scarborough (RG13/4531 Folio: 9 Page: 9)

... so there's no doubting his birth must be April 1880-March 1881.

Do you think that they might not have registered the child?

As a result of this, I can't find his death either!  >:(

Roger ;)

Dear Roger
Just checked on 'findmypast' and I think I have found your missing George Arthur. A George Arthur PASLEBY was registered 3rd Q 1879 at Scarborough
Trust this is the right person?
Regards
Scarbro

YES SCARBRO!!! That MUST be my man! Thanks a million!!!!

EDIT
Found him now on FreeBMD, volume 9d page 360

I had tried Pashby, Pasby, Pashly, Pashley and drew a blank with them all.

As for SooCatt, I also followed up George Pashby in Brid but there's a George Pashby who dies in Brid in 1884 aged 3 years, so that rather ruled him out as my man went on to live long enough to marry (I believe!)

Thanks for EVERYBODY'S efforts here. I'm eternally grateful (well, at least until Wednesday afternoon ...  ;D)

Roger ;)

PS Is 'findmypast' free? And easy to use? And what's the link, please?

Hi there
Glad you are satisfied it is the right person. I've had a lot of experience and help looking up alternative spellings of surnames!
findmypast.com is the new name for 1837online. I took up an offer last year sometime and paid over £!00 for unlimited viewing of BMDs until late 2008. I still use it quite a lot as deaths are not well-represented yet on the free sites.
Having said that ancestry improved their BMDs shortly after I had subscribed to findmypast. I still find the latter easier and more informative, tho'.
All the best
Scarbro
