YOUERS Family - 1881 Census - Wycombe
« on: Friday 19 January 07 14:21 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the Youers family of Buckinghamshire. In 1901 there were just 7 families in the entire country all in High Wycombe/Wycombe. Can anyone let me know what is listed in the 1881 census.
Thankyou.

Hi Robert

I don't know if this will help or hinder you but I have just checked my 1851 Bucks census disc & there are no Youers only YOUENS.

Perhaps this is why there only appear to be 7 families in the 1901. Transcription errors. !!!

The IGI on family search also has records of YOUENS born Bucks.

I'm happy to help with the 1851 but unfortunately don't have access to the 61/71/91. Is there someone specific you are looking for.??

regards

I have done some others checks and it appears that there are two distinct families ie Youers and Youens. One suspects that Youers is derived from Youens. I wonder when the change occured.

Hi Robert

I would think you are correct about the two names being originally the same. Quite often the spelling is a transcription error but it's always possible a branch of the family decided to spell it differently. !!!!

Perhaps as your research gets back in time you will see when the change occurred, if it did, that is.

I did notice there are also some Yours on the 51 from Wycombe, they could also be part & parcel. :)

OOps, as posted by Tazzie
