hi

this has probably been around for ages, but i havejust found it myself, and thought i would post of for the ones who have not seenit either

www.burialrecords.manchester.gov.uk

its a fab website for searching the burial/cremation records for any ancestor that may be in a manchester cemetery
its a pay per view basis but well worth it

the info it gives you is
burial date
section grave number
and even who else is in the grave

i myself have had loads of success from it, I have found graves that i have been looking for for ages

Hi Ann

Yep it has been around a few month now.
As someone who went regular to Blackley crem to get grave and location details for my own family and fellow rootschatters for free in the research room, I feel totally ripped off by Manchester Council. Now it costs £4 a time and if you our not 100% sure of dates you will waste that money " I did".  >:(
I did complain and got 2 credits back.
The site does not have cookies so if you accidentally look at the same record twice it takes another credit.
To me they have jumped on the band wagon and overcharging at the same time. It makes Ancestry price very very cheap in comparison.

Regards
Ken

I've been using it a fair bit and solved quite a few family mysteries... including discovering the names of my father's grandparent's and his aunt (for some reason no one in the family ever knew their first names), and locating the grave of his brother who died in infancy... which brought a few tears to a few eyes.

One thing to be aware of is that the grave numbers can relate to various different sections of the cemeteries...ie conformist, non conformist etc... so when you see a list of people listed under one grave number it doesn't mean that they are definitely all buried together.

And yes.. you have to be SO careful when opening the records.  If you are not really careful you have no choice but to go backwards to the previous page ...which means losing another credit.  But on the positive side - when there was a problem with a page not opening and I lost loads of credits a lovely lady answered my e-mail and refunded all my credits. ;D
McBride (Monaghan, Manchester), Derbyshire (Bollington,Cheshire), Knight (Newcastle,Staffs), Smith (Chorley, Lancs & Ireland), Tipladay (Manchester & Yorkshire) ,Steadman (Madeley,Shropshire), Steele (Manchester,Glasgow), Parkinson (Wigan, Lancashire), Lovatt, Cornes & Turner (Staffs) Stott (Oldham, Lancs). All ended up Ardwick, Manchester
