The person's religion is a good indicator of where they might be buried.  I think Mt Jerome was for non Catholics up to about 1923.  Many of all denominations are buried in Glasnevin cemetery who have online records that are very good... but to be paid for though free to browse.  For south of Dublin, there is Dean's Grange Cemetery from about 1860.

Just an additional on this - I found a catholic relatives that died prior to 1923 buried in Mount Jerome as there were mixed marriages and they used family graves. Don't just rule out Mount Jerome as a possibility for catholics pre-1923!!

This is a link to photos from Mount Jerome
http://www.igp-web.com/igparchives/ire/dublin/photos/tombstones/mt-jerome-ndx.htm
If you use the text file you can use [ctrl] & [F] on your keyboard to activate the find dialogue box and type the name you require to search; tedious but effective! Then with the photo number look at the relevant file of photos.
Many graves in Mount Jerome are unmarked however.

Still trying to find where my Pockridge Dancy/Dancey might be buried. He was CoI, lived in Inchicore Kilmainham & died Feb 1880. From the info on this thread & others, St Jerome is the place he probably should be buried, & there are other Dancey relatives from early 1900's to 1940's buried there.  I have written to St Jeromes & a kind person there gave me details of various other related Dancy/Dancey's with no charge! (I'm in UK, so sending money is a bit problematic).
if not St Jeromes any other suggestions please?
Roz

The other two large cemeteries in use around the city at that time were Glasnevin/Prospect and Dean's grange.

Hi
Thanks
I checked the Glasnevin site (couldn't find a link for Glasnevin/Prospect) & Deans Grange with no joy at either (mind you the name Pockridge Dancey is always liable to quite a variety of spellings & the searches don't offer name variations)
I'm wondering if Pockridge was buried in the same plot as his son Richard Arthur Dancey who died Dec 1911 & is in Mt Jerome (& also haven't found RA Dancey's wife Jane Catherine Dancey who died 1910) As you could get 4 to a single plot I wonder if the 3 of them are all in the plot that has been identified as Richards

It seems that Richard;s plot was bequeathed to one of his daughters Hanna Dancey/Kenny (who died childless) - how would I find out who plot ownership reverted to?
thanks

I would think Mount Jerome would have any details there are on the Dancey plot.

Prospect is the other name for the graveyard at Glasnvein.

Do you have a date of death for Richard?

managed to miss that you mentioned 1911 as date of death for Richard...   if it was after 1922 I was going to suggest looking for a probate calendar entry and will...
