Mount Jerome is not 'closed'.  There are still some new plots there and burials in older family plots.  It is now also a very busy place with a crematorium operating from the chapel there.

There is an office that would answer your query.  I believe they charge 10 euro but could locate the grave from the one burial date and supply full details including a map,of all others in the same plot.  Up to four people can be buried in one standard grave.

Anne

I see that you have FLOOD as one of your surnames. Any relation to Kathleen FLOOD or HARTYs? My ancestor was buried in the FLOOD plot  Douglas Philip DAVIS (due to family connection) at Mt Jerome cemetry.

I have just been given a certificate of ownership to a grave purchased in 1914 by my grandfather's sister and it is to be transferred to my name.
I wonder if anyone could possibly get a photograph of the headstone if there is one on the grave. The reference is C.I46/I4346. Mount Jerome Cemetry Dublin.
I am interested in who may be buried there of my ancestors - I think it may help me to develop my family tree in Ireland.
Many thanks if anyone can possibly help.
Su

18:32 Update - Photograph of grave now found, but the inscription on the base of the headstone is indistinct so would like clarity if anyone could check it out please..

Hi Su,Welcome to Rootschat. You may get an offer from someone visiting Mount Jerome but in the meantime the link below has both photos and text files of graves there.I find the text files useful because you can do a 'search this page' using your ancestors surname.

On most web browsers (Internet explorer, Firefox etc) you can select the search option by selecting Ctrl F on your keyboard.

click on the webpage you want to search (e.g. mt-jerome06.txt).
Wait for it to finish loading if necessary
 press Ctrl F
enter part of the name you are looking for, and press enter

If any matches are found on the page you are viewing, they will be highlighted

If you telephone the office or even email the office at Mt Jerome, they will check their records and tell you if a headstone was ever put up on that plot.

Good luck.

Hi Kooky,Sorry for not replying sooner,I went off searching
for something and got distracted. On the very top right of my browser
window there is a small drop down menu which includes the 'find on this page'
option.I'm not sure if all browsers have this or if its only on some.
                                                                              best wishes.Anne
