Hi I was wondering if anyone would have time to help me find the gaves of my family in Mt. Jerome Cemetery.  I will be visiting Ireland in a few weeks and would love to visit the graves.  The information I have is:

Charlotte Bennett Taylor of 4 Sallymount Av. Ranelagh died 8 February 1879  buried at Mt. Jerome
Elizabeth Taylor of 4 Sallymount Av. Ranelagh died 23 September 1876 buried at Mt. Jerome
James H Taylor or 3 Sallymount Av. Ranelagh died 11 October 1878 buried at Mt. Jerome

I do not have the gave location.  Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Ellen
Taylor and Bennett

Hi Ellen

I'm a genealogist based in Dublin. I know the layout of Mount Jerome and the cemetery records well as I often do work there. I'd be happy to look up your names next time I'm at working the records office. I may not get there in the coming week (week of Mon 7 Sep) but should get there the following week at the latest.

Mount Jerome is an old cemetery (opened in 1836) and much of it is in poor repair. I have to tell you that while the records are good, it's common to find that any headstone is now missing (and often there wasn't one present at all).

There was a perpetuity/perpetual care system in place, whereby, for an extra fee, a level of maintenance was to be carried out longterm. Unfortunately, 'longterm' seems to have expired ....
However, where perpetuity was arranged (and it often wasn't), the perpetuity records show a list of all burials carried in the particular plot up to 1972.

I'll come back to you as soon as possble.

best regards

i was wondering if someone would be able to find the graves at plot c3978-128 and take photos for me, i am coming over to ireland at the start of october. the graves are Jane C E Shortt died 1870, Grace Emma Aitcheson died 1875 and William H Groves died 1902. i am hoping there might be some more information on the graves to help me in my search.

i will quite happily pay for your time and effort. it would be much appreciated.

I can check out this grave location this week and provide photos if anything is found (there can be no guarantee that even if there was once a memorial there, it is still in existence). Please send me a personal message.

Gerry,

Thankyou so very much for taking the time to look up the details of my relations, if you could kindly forward the photo of the rough location of their graves please so I may show it to their living grand daughter, my great aunty, whom spent much of her childhood lving with them.

Many thanks
Matthew Ellis

Can anyone tell me how i can find my relatives in Mount Jerome Cemetary?  I have a death date for my g - grandmother and because she died after my g-grandfather I cant find her - i dont have a date for him but i figure if i can find her he should be there possibly along with other family members.  Since the cemetary is closed how do i access these records?

Mount Jerome is not 'closed'.  There are still some new plots there and burials in older family plots.  It is now also a very busy place with a crematorium operating from the chapel there.

There is an office that would answer your query.  I believe they charge 10 euro but could locate the grave from the one burial date and supply full details including a map,of all others in the same plot.  Up to four people can be buried in one standard grave.
