Firstly, in response to the query about the grave Kelly/Davenport from Cando, I checked section 69 but the very few old graves I could see there had undecipherable inscriptions. Almost all the graves in that section are relatively new, dating from the 1960s up to the present day. To obtain further information a search would have to be carried out by the cemetery office, which would cost up to 20 Euros per grave.  Don

I don't know whether they reply to postal requests or whether they have email. The address was posted earlier on this thread. At the office they charge up to 20 euros, depending on the kind of search needed. If you'd like me to find out more, please send me a personal message.  Don

Hallo, I have an old photograph (1889) of an ancestor, Thomas Henry Blake, and am interested in knowing whether or not this grave still exists and importantly whether or not other ancestors are also buried here.  It would be great to get an up-to-date photo, but in the old photo, the (possibly) plot number marker only shows two digits (89) at end.   Anyhow, do they have an email address rather than postal?  I assume they only give information in return rather than photos.  Appreciate any response.

The cemetery staff have excellent records and I think for about 10 euro will look up a grave.  It is best if you have exact date and name of one of occupants.  Normally a grave can have up to 4 people. They can get full details of all people there and send you same together with a map.  Often people can be missing from a headstone even if there is one and that it is still legible.  They can also tell from the books whether there ever was  a headstone on it and may go out and check if it is still there.  The graveyard is not the easiest to find a grave but if stuck there are men working about who will help.

Be patient they are not the speediest at replying to postal queries and no email. You could try your luck with a phone call

Hallo to Don and annieburns,
I was about to reply to one message then got another! Hope by replying in the same message this will work and you do not mind this.
I am figuring that I am more than fortunate  by having a photo in the first place, so not having another would not matter.  Reading some of the prior messages there is mention of both address and I see phone number.  That is probably a good idea to ring (time difference notwithstanding!) and at least you know your request has got through.  I also see that there is a site which seems to be photographing a number of graves in Mt Jerome, so who knows, it may be that this may come up on that.  I do have definite details, thankfully supplied by the photograph I have.  I suspect there will be only the ancestor mentioned but possibly his wife will be there, so one would think that the search can be pinpointed to a definite time.
Many thanks for both replies.  I will let you know how I fare!  Regards, Maxine.

Thank you Don for trying to find the grave.   Your kindness is appreciated.

Cheers

Hi dublin 1850
just found this site and hope you can help. Looking for grave of ggrandma buried at Mt Jerome.
Her name is Margaret Keogh buried in :

Grave no 408   Section A 86/421

Margaret was my dads mum, who lost her husband on the Somme, and died very young leaving two boys who went into orphanage. My dad also died young so never got to find out anything about her, this is my first hint of anything.

Thanks Edith  :)

I was over there this morning. I found the plot and have a photograph of it which I can email to you if you'd like it, but there is no headstone.

It might be worthwhile contacting the cemetery as they will have records on who paid for the burial etc. which might give you some more information.
