Hi Maxine
I'm a genealogist based in Dublin and was working at Mount Jerome today. As I had some time to spare I took a look for the Blake grave.
Per the cemetery records Thomas H. Blake was buried in 1889 (Reg No 978) and Kate Elizabeth Blake buried 1900 (Reg No 978) is in the same grave.
From Mount Jerome Burial Records:
The Grave is No. 75 in Area 229 (Perpetuity Ref 7963)
Perpetual right of burial was purchased on 17 Jan 1890 by Thomas A. Blake of 99 Edinburgh Road, Liverpool for £3-0-0.
I found the location of the grave, but unfortunately no trace of the headstone or surround now remains. The description in the records was 'Marble headstone & granite base'.
The cemetery records state that Thomas died at the Adelaide Hospital, Dublin, on 3 Nov 1889 aged 58 and was buried on 5 Nov. Cause of death is hard to read, but looks like 'P/monia' (Pneumonia). The attestant on the burial record is his son Thomas A. Blake, 85 Grosvenor Square, Rathmines, Dublin.
Thomas Henry Blake is recorded in the State Death Records as having died Quarter 4, 1889 in Dublin South Registration District aged 58; Ref - Volume 2, Page 546.
I have photos of the area of the grave to show where the headstone was located. I can send these if you wish.
While searching for this I also came across another Blake grave a short distance away;
Frederick Blake, Late Warrant Officer R.A.S. Corps died 23 Dec 1923, aged 76, also details of his wife and son.
- This may not be relevant, of course.
I hope this helps.
best regards
Gerry McMahon
