Problem differentiating between people on 1901 Census

I'm having problems with working out one of my family members! I'm hoping someone can offer some advice!

I've found my grandfather's parents as being Ernest Davies and Clara Whalley.

They married in January 1921 in Stoke-on-Trent, my grandfather being born in December of the same year.

At the time of marriage, Ernest was 24 and Clara was 25. I've had no problems tracing Clara's family, but Ernest has proved to be tricky. On the marriage certificate, it syas his father's name is Thomas Davies.

When I look up Ernest Davies (b. 1896/7) together with Thomas Davies as his father on Ancestry, I get a myriad of results. I don't know how to work out which one is *my* Ernest, and seeing as both grandparents have died, there is no-one available to consult! 

What can I do? I've attached a screen shot of the possible candidates from Ancestry, with the English and Welsh 1901 census info...

did ernest b1896/1897 have any known siblings
/Does your parent recall any aunts/uncles)?
would they be on the 1901?
what were witness names in 1921?
can you differentiate by occupation?

   Hi Benjy.....

  If you have the marriage cert for Ernest & Clara it will give the occupation of Ernest's father . Then looked at jobs of the head of household...

Would the profession be exactly the same? I'm going to look into it and get to you!

There's no siblings that I know of, and none that I can recall. The only one I have ever heard mentioned was Uncle Percy, but he was the brother of Ernest Davies born in 1921.

As all of the family on my grandfather's side stayed in Staffordshire, and he'd moved to Swinton, I think there was little contact between the Swinton family and the "ancestral" family in Hanley, so there is a distinct lack of info!

I looked on the census and found an Ernest Davies, but inthis case, born in 1892. His father was Thomas Davies, who was a potter, as was noted on the marriage certificate.

As being a Potter isn't exactly rare in Staffs, I looked elsewhere, but noticed that the address on this census record was East View, which was also on the marriage certificate! So they stayed in the same address for 20 years!

I've been highly surprised at the inaccuracies on some of the census records!!
