I have the marriage certificate for Elizabeth and her second husband Frank Hurst,  It took place at Altrincham Register Office on 8th August 1940.   I've checked the local paper (Altrincham Guardian) for the next two issues but no report .  Elizabeth was 44 amd a widow which is what we would expect.

She was a Maternity Hospital Nurse at an address in Timperley, Altrincham.  I'll find this address shortly but I'm pessimistic about finding anything further.  Frank's address at time of marriage was 6, Irlam Road, Sale.  I'll find  this address too.  I think Frank died in 1959:
Death Frank W Hurst  Mar  Q 1959  age 57  (He was 38 when ne married Elizabeth) Registartion District was Barton - which borders Bucklow.

Thinks:  Do we have any earlier or even later knowledge of Elizabeth being a Nurse?

What a fascinating thread. I have taken over 2 hours to read it.
What a smashing lot you are to give so much time and effort to trying to locate this man's rellies.
Michel, I do hope that there is a successful outcome to this search.

Perhaps we are getting beyond this now but  Blundellsands library sent my request re the burial of Robert William Stead to the Crosby library and I have received the following:

Thank you for your e-mail which was passed onto me here at Crosby Local
History Unit.  I am sorry for the delay in replying;  I am working on
your query and am trying to find an obituary for Robert William Stead in
the local newspaper, the Crosby Herald,  because that would presumably
tell me where he was buried.  When I have got more information I will
get back to you.

Yours faithfully

Andrew Lee-Hart

Hopefully we can get some replies now...I know this one has got us all itching again to resolve it.

I did try ringing the Post but got stuck on a loop so may try a second e-mail.

Annie asked about the addresses on the marraige certificate for Elizabeth and Frank Hurst.

Elizabeths address was Timperley Lodge Nursing Home where she was a Maternity Hospital Nurse.  It is a large Victorian building in large grounds.  Been there this afternoon but no one answered.  May now be a private house.  I'll try and find more.
Frank Hurst was a Chief Job Time Clerk at an Aircraft Works. (Trafford Park? )  He lived at 6, Irlam Road Sale.
Been there this afternoon as well.  Now divided into 6 flats/apartments.   No knowledge from an 'older' gentleman of a Hurst but of some sisters called Bell in the 90s who 'owned' the property.
All now deceased.

I'll try and follow addrresses  post war via Electoral Roll .  They may have moved later.   As I said I think Frank died in 1959 and registered in Barton (next door Registration District to Bucklow) so they may have moved into Stretford or Barton, which is not far away.

Could Frank have left a will?  If he did, it could name relatives of his - and Elizabeth's.

The Hursts moved to 24 Cressingham Road Stretford sometime before 1950. FW Hurst is listed at that address in phone books 1950-59. Mrs E N Hurst is there in 1963.
