Per the Probate record, Robert died 7 October 1926. Has anyone checked the local press for the following few days for a death announcement and/or funeral notice?

Anfield crematorium opened in 1896. I've sent them an email asking if he was cremated as we know his name and date of death. Will let you know the outcome.

Have just had a phone call from Chris in the Cemeteries and Crematoria dept of the council. (that was quick and no charge for the look-up)

Robert wasn't cremated or buried at Anfield, nor buried at Everton, Toxteth or Allerton.

The records for Kirkdale and West Derby cemeteries are at Central Library, I'll give them a call.

If he's not there Chris suggested a longshot of Yewtree but that's a Catholic cemetery.

(Springwood Crematorium didn't open till 1970 so that's out of the equation)

I'll keep you informed.

Could I suggest the Bolton Evening News as they do a regular "Looking Back" article, they might just be interested.

Hey you guys, your cooking!!! Good for you. I do think you are on the right track. Elimination is good. Narrows it down considerably. Now to think laterally we know where his death was registered has to be the place he died. Did he live there? Do we have have him on the electoral rolls in 1926.
That would change the Cemetery possbly, he was C of E, is he in a Church yard Cemetery?

Robert was living in Gateacre when he died ....where would be the most likely cemetery?

He and Elizabeth were married at St. Simon & St. Jude Anfield so presumably they were C of E.

Well Mary A used a tank of gas driving all over Gateacre and Woolton ....  ::)

He's not at St Stephens Church ... He's not at Childwall Abbey .... He's not at Woolton .... or Allerton .... not in Speke .....  not at any of the cemeteries in between !!  :-\

Good possibility he was cremated ..... but I've I tried Widnes and Warrington also ! but nada !!  :-\

Annie  :)

PS .... I went through every cemetery on that list I posted earlier .... checking all the MI's ... twice ... ( in case I missed him ! ) and there's a LOT of names on there ! .... of course he could be in an
unmarked grave ..... but I doubt it !!

PPS .... the original dog tag said C of E ...... !!
