First of all thank you ! ..... you are all very nice to say those things and I appreciate it !

But this has been very much a team effort and I'm always "blown away " by the wonderful comradeship on RootsChat and how people go out of their way to get results and answers !! not just on this thread but all over !!

I hope we get a good result at the end of all this ...... maybe we need to take a breather for a day or so and lets see what the Echo brings !! ...... I'll work on RT's good ideas tonight and if they don't get in touch with me by tomorrow .... I'll bombard them until they do it !!

Have a great night !

Annie  :) :)

Morning All!
Bonjour Michel!

Firstly to Annie about your article for the Echo.  Please include a note of the names - something along the lines of.

"Names which have married into this family and which might be known to connect to the family are Crease, Dobell, Richards, Keay, Butterworth."

And I for one would appreciate it if you would update the original on PAGE 21, rather than having additional drafts along this thread, until finally getting something that you are happy with.  I think it would be a good idea if you posted an "updated - see Page 21" message as I did when updating the website, then we will know its been changed to check back on it.

Believe me Annie that picture is not a good likeness - I've had a haircut and you wouldn't recognise me now.

Oh shucks, and I always liked guys with long hair  ;D

Mary - the page 21 thing that you suggest doesn't work for everybody. My preferences are set up to show all threads with latest posts at the top - so your page 21 is my page 2.

Oh I hadn't thought of that, that means that entries you read change pages as more is added?

I think I'll stick to my method, it's easier to find entries  :D

Hmmmm Annie,

I just realised.... I think maybe you should also take off the last line of Michel's original request about taking photographs of his house - somebody else lives there now!!!

Good idea Mary.....The new owner might not appreciate a hoard of photo hunters on the doorstep.

A letter to them direct though I thought would be o.k.

This site shows Arthur Edward Dobell was an airforce pilot  1930-1935 and a reserve in later years. One entry (1941)has what may be his service number but I'm not clued up on things military so I may be wrong.

An 1967 entry indicates he was at Whitestaunton Manor  Chard Somerset - this property does feature on the web.

Retiringtype has suggested that as the Dobells are probably the nearest relatives, then we should try to get a copy of Arthur's Will to see if we can trace any more of his descendants that way.  I've asked for help on this from our friend who works nearby  :D :D :D
