Nora May Dobell
died aged 88 on 8 Dec 1981 at home 5 St Peters Close Heswall (formerly of
Bramerton Meols Drive West Kirby) widow of George Galloway. Service and
cremation at Landican Crematorium Monday Dec 14 11am.
Flowers to T. A. Ball Funeral Service Woodchurch Birkenhead.

If this is RW's  sister, then what about a call to that Funeral director - they may have  soemthing  on file of the family names and locations - all we need to do is get hold of one person who knows a bit of the family history - doesn't matter how far away from Robert they are.....Robert dying young like he did, it may be a thing that is known to wider family, who may know a cousin that sort of thing........

T A BALL:

Weekend coming up! Anyone local can make a call ??

Also, I wondered if a Death notice (as opposed to an Obit, which as has been said before here, is unlikely) could be searched for for him in the local paper (the Echo?) - forgret the modern Newspaper  themselves - but does any Library have microfilm of old newspapers back to at least 1926? A Death notice may have been placed by the Funeral Director on behalf of the family...and if we can get the name of the Director, we might be able to find out where he was laid to rest.

Just a thought  ;D
Cheers

ambly well found!! After reading so much it can get confusing. You've done a great job. Maybe someone close will take this thought on.

Elizabeth died in 1990 at Abbermeade, 14, Victoria Road, Waterloo, Liverpool (See page 11).   I googled for Funeral Directors in Liverpool L22 and the following three came up:
Barringtons
44 Hougoumont Av, Liverpool - 0151 928 1139
David Clegg
77 Bridge Rd, Litherland, Liverpool - 0151 928 6665
McCallum & Tritton & Sons
46 Mersey View, Brighton-le-Sands, Liverpool - 0151 931 2002

I could try my charm from here in South Manchester but someone who knows the area may have more charm  :)    Presumably all we would ideally like to know  was whether they were the ones who undertook the funeral and if so, where it took place?

Any volunteers? :)

Enquiries under way -
David Clegg didn't open until 1993 so not them
Barringtons wasn't open then
One of the biggest - Humphreys don't keep those sort of records.
R S Cape doesn't hold records that far back
McCallum & Tritton & Sons constantly engaged - apparently only one phone line

St Luke's apparently holds the records for every burial in their churchyard and they are supposed to be the biggest in the area.  Answerphone, message left.
Thornton Cemetery - out to lunch
