Thanks Doreen, that certainly looks interesting being in the right district, however I have not a clue who the R might be.  Now up to 1939 and no sign of children.

Annie, don't get carried away, it's only DAVID who married a Richards, not the whole of his family, if we start following up his siblings we'll be in the same boat as we were with the Dobells, and that's getting too far away from the main line.

There are 3 Breingans listed in Historical Electoral Rolls on 192.com but none on the current one, or giving phone numbers.  Seems to be another name that has died out.

This is getting frustrating.

Well the Cemetries people should phone me back within 48 hours, that's of this afternoon.  I just want SOME result out of this search, even if it's only a photograph of a headstone.

Oh! look what I've found

ROBERT ALASTAIR WYLIE BREINGAN - remember what I said about David's name having Wylie in the middle !!
Nationality:     Australian
Rank:    Private
Regiment/Service: Australian Army Ordnance Corps
Age:    20
Date of Death:    30/11/1946
Service No:    NX193399
Additional information:  Son of David Wylie Breingan, and Norah Breingan, of Sungei Patani, Kedah, Federated Malay States.
Grave/Memorial Reference:    C.C.2.
Cemetery: Atherton War Cemetery  - this is in Queensland, Australia

Well I'm sorry for Robert, but at least it explains why they didn't have any children in the indexes.

Frustrating is the word Mary I haven't turned up anything new in days due to work  and feel we are running in circles to find any family. Its sad that the lines just stop ..most with no children.

I know we  all feel strongly about getting the right result for Michel after all the care his has given this small token.

So I guess it's back to waiting and another bash at googling the new name.

                        Best wishes to all

There are 4 folks with the surname  Breingan (including an Alistair) who served in the forces. You can check them here
http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/name.asp#searchtabs

If you search the surname at the national archives, there is a John Breingan who was born Scotland - serving in WWI.

So far as the Breingans are concerned, we need to stay focussed on the direct line from David and Norah, and the CWGC site did indeed confirm that Robert Alastair Wylie was their son so we had that right.  We don't want to find that once again we are again into the realms of in-laws.

From the details of Robert's next of kin being noted as "David" I would assume that this would be his father, could that mean that he didn't marry and so again no children?

I've had an answer from the Curator of the Liverpool Museum who advises that there is a database of Kings Regiment soldiers that a volunteer has been compiling for the last 10 years.  Our information corresponds with that which has been extracted from the Officer's Records at the National Archives.

He will wait until we hear what results we get from the article in the Liverpool Echo before progressing matters any further, and then if Michel decides that he wants to make a formal offer of the wrist-tag to the Museum then he can do so.

For more information on the MGC, take a look at http://www.machineguncorps.co.uk/history.html

It may well be worth contacting the Imperial War Museum and the National Army Museum for more information about the MGC.

So see what you can do about the Echo then Annie before we take this any further.
