Longford Army Camp 1881
« on: Thursday 11 January 07 17:40 GMT (UK) »
Happy New Year!

My Great Grandfather was in the 2nd Dragoon Guards and was not at home with his family in 1881.
According to www.regiments.org the regiment was stationed at Longford.
But where is this place?
There seem to be a lot of places with this name in England and Ireland.
All help much appreciated.

Dijon.

Hi,

Longford is in central Ireland to the south east of Sligo.

Hope this gives you a better geographical fix.
