Well, thank you for being a welcoming lot (but surely a bit bonkers if you're happy to include non-Scots like myself!).

I will now keep in contact with this thread - I can always sort out a Glasgow meet with visiting my old friends in Kippen.  But..... it's always going to be a bit odd, if people are there researching their Scots ancestry??  And there's me, a bit of an oddball??!!

Although there is bound to be some kind of genealogical theme to the day I do not believe that research is at the top of the agenda .... more a social gathering of like minded individuals.

Quite right, Falkyrn!  It's chance to discover whether any of us are just normal folk, too!  The Manchester meet-up was great fun!

It's one of my favourite cities, Ann.I was told that my Kirkcudbrightshire ancestors did a bit of 'carting ' to there in the early 19th century but I've not found anything yet  :-\

The people are lovely, which is, I think, what makes it such a super place  :)

Ann - I don't doubt it  :)

I've visited Glasgow in the 1980s, visiting some friends who lived there; and then in the 1990s at a conference.

Glasgow was/is great - the arts, the scenery, the architecture, the social life (!).
