Well this is a family run guest house Cal.. Can't be doing with Hotels ... well not ones with more that 10 rooms ... they get a bit impersonal.. I like  to chat
( Who'd have guessed that !?)  ::)   with my hosts.    Let me know who I'll be having brekkies with then ... !

To help with your own planning (especially those coming some distance),  Gadget has already posted links on accomodation here

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,206729.msg1099576.html#msg1099576

and I repeat the link to a very snazzy map on central Glasgow:

To fill out the picture, I've attached below a travel information pack - covering how to get to Glasgow and how to get around the city.  Hope people find this useful.  Questions welcome, and if necessary, we'll update it.

As a little extra because I'm preparing all sorts of goodies for you all  :) :) , it's probably best to book within the subway 'oval' - see Julian's pages - or close by.

Glasgow has a whole range of accommodation/prices which I gave links to. I've only stayed in some of them. I've lived in the West End around Kelvinside/Kelvingrove, which is very pleasant, and stayed in various hostelries in the Central area (see my map link). I haven't really stayed or frequented much the new up-and-coming Merchant City but it is also a possible area.

Most Central area accommodation doesn't have parking.

Hi  :)

I'll add you to the list

Briefly, because we (Julian and I )are still planning and organising, we hope to gather together at a central Glasgow location about 10.30 am on the morning of Saturday, 13th October. The day will be a mixture of 'heavyish' and more light hearted (emphasis on this) Family and Local History in and around Glasgow.

We would probably all have lunch together and maybe a boat trip and other events with evening entetainment, etc. Sunday morning has also been pencilled in for more gatherings  :D
