where do I go from here
« on: Friday 05 January 07 20:30 GMT (UK) »
Hello can you help please.
I have traced my family name of Lockwood back to the marriage of Thomas and Judith Tricker  in 1788.Before that Thomas married Mary Allison in 1761. Mary Died in 1784.
This was in the area of Suffolk and as I live in Lincolnshire my research has to be done on the internet.
I am now well and truely stuck I would like to go back further but none of the websites I use are giving me any further information.can you please set me in the right direction. many regards janet

Have you tried putting a request on the Suffolk Board?

Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my plea. Yes I have put all my family names on the Suffolk names site, but with not a lot of luck I am afraid.I also had dislexic fingers when I put my post on. Thomas Lockwood was married to Judith Tricker.

Why not put the locations for the various events in a posting? Probably much more likely to get a result. Suffolk is a pretty big place, but it is full of lots of small places so there is a fair chance that if you find someone with a similar interest in a particular village, they will have a lot of information available.
E Yorks - Carver, Steels, Cross, Maltby, Whiting, Moor, Laybourn
W Yorks - Wilkinson, Kershaw, Rawnsley, Shaw
Norfolk - Carver, Dowson
Cheshire - Berry, Cooper
Lincs - Berry
London/Ireland/Scotland/Lincs - Sullivan
Northumberland/Durham - Nicholson, Cuthbert, Turner, Robertson
Berks - May
Beds - Brownell

Thanks nanny Jan
Wires crossed I am afraid. I have not used the post board before. That is new to me so once I find my way round it I will try that.

Hi
I was wondering if your query was related to Lockwood family or the Tricker connection through the marriage, if you haven't already found it details of the marriage are.  It occurred in Creeting St Olaves, Suffolk 7 Apr 1788. Judith was single the daughter of Thomas &
Judith (nee Powle) Tricker she was baptised 25 May 1767. Thomas was shown as a widower and of the Creeting St Olaves.
Banns 16, 23 & 30 Mar 1788.

They baptised the following children Charlotte 9 Nov 1788, Henry 16 May 1790, Charlotte born 11 Oct 1792 baptised 4 Nov 1792,  buried 30 Nov 1797 (assume first one died but do not record her burial) Thomas born 12 Jul 1794 baptised 26 Oct 1794, Harriott bap privately 17 Jun 1796 received into church 8 Jan 1797 all in Creeting St Mary.
Tricker, Collins, Skingsley, Bragg, Savell, Rook, Greary, Shaughnessy

I have just found your message and thank you that confirms most of my research so far. I was born into the Lockwood family and so that is my main interest. Their daughter Harriot was my 3x greatgrandmother. Your information on her is a great help to me. I did know Thomas was a widower when he married Judith Tricker but I have not really been able to get back any further with concrete evidence as to who Thomas's parents were. Many many thanks Janet
