I also knew Fr Percy when he lived in Lee- on -Solent. I was about 16 and a memeber of the local anglican church. When he arrived, he built alot of bridges between the Catholic church and other churches. His previous incumbant, had, a I recall, not done so, so there were were many bridges to be built! He ddi this, largely through music and getting musical groups together in different churches. His own church needed to be rebuilt, and people could help by buying a brick! Our church was invited to the consecration of the church. My best memory of that, was that I had no idea, as a non-catholic, that I wasn't allowed to take communion, which I did!!! My own vicar was horrified, but Percy gave me a hug and and also pumped the air in joy when he saw me afterwards! He was delighted ( but never told the Catholic bishop!) He was very supportive of me, as a 20 year old when I joined an interdenominational missionary organisation called YWAM. He was a very kind, sincere, Charismatic man in the fullest sense, and was bridge builder between communities. When I married, and my first child was stillborn, I was very moved that he held a Mass for our son, even though We are not Catholic..more Pentecostal! He was a lovely, godly man, very kind and sweet, a true gentleman. I was very fond of him indeed.
