Richard Woosnam 1718
« on: Thursday 04 January 07 20:24 GMT (UK) »
Hello Woosnam Researchers
I wonder if anyone can verify the father of Richard Woosnam who was baptised on April 1st, 1718 at Llanidloes. I copied the entry written in Latin from a book which I saw in the library at the Society of Genealogists. This was back in 1982. I can't make out the father's name. For years I thought it was Griffith but I think it is more likely to be Francis. Richard married Anne Williams(nee Bowen) at Trefeglwys on 5th May 1749.
Thanks and Happy New Year
Rosemary

Hi Rosemary :)
if you go to www.a2a.org.uk and click on the search button at the top right; in the keyword [or phrase] box type in
Woosnam Near30 Llanidloes
you should get 6 catalogue matches.  The first one [National Library of Wales, Department of Collection Services: Welsh Probate Records, Diocese of Bangor [B/1705/19 - B/1730/225]] has four hits listed on the right.  If you click on that link, you will get the snippet of information about a Francis Woosnam :)

hope you find it

Hi there fellow Woosnams, if anyone is interested we are having a Woosnam gathering on Friday 30th March-Sunday 1st April at the Elephant and Castle Hotel Newtown.  We have a couple of Historians (Powell i think their name is!) who are coming on the Sat morning to give us some help.  Most of our line are from Llandinam/Trefellgws.  Rosemary if you can make it you may find this weekend of help i have 4 Woosnam trees which we think we've linked all together.  There are Woosnams coming from all over the world to this event!!
