Registration area for Preston, Northumberland

I have just found a relative born in Preston, northumberland and wondered which registration area it would be under. Would it be the Wooler area so coming under Glendale?

Try this link:  http://www.genuki.bpears.org.uk/NBL/Gazetteer/index.html  which gives a complete list of Northumberland place names together with the relevant registration district. Unfortunately there are two places named Preston! Possibly you have more information to pin down which one of the two is relevant to you?

Unfortunately all I have is Preston, Northumberland - nothing else. Mind you their daughter was born in Wooler and they were married in Glendale district so if there is one near there then that is the one I think

Could it be Presson? This is near Carham, and would come under the Glendale Union.

Preston in the north of the county would be under Belford.

Carol,

Preston in the north of the county lay within the Parish of Ellingham and for BMD registration purposes, under the jurisdiction of Belford Registration District Office, as emjay suggested, seven miles away.

There is also a Preston in the south of the county, now within the conurbation of North Shields/Tynemouth.

Then, Preston lay within the Parish of Tynemouth and within the area of Tynemouth Registration Office ( although the sub-district office at North Shields was nearer for registrations)

And for any of your folk who wandered over the border into Scotland, there was/is a Preston, near Duns, in Berwickshire ( Now "Borders" )
