Scourfields of Llanboidy/Llanwinio
« on: Tuesday 02 January 07 21:48 GMT (UK) »
I am descendent from a Benjamin Scourfield b1817 who married a Sarah Davies in 1843.  Benjamin's father was a David Scourfield but I have nothing else.  All further leads before Benjamin have now gone cold - can anyone help please? :)

There is a Benjamin ( farmer). with wife Sarah in the 1881 census- and son John all in Llanboidy...could they be yours?

There is also a David ( aged 38, b CMN )with family in Aberdare GLA - he is a cooper

I amnot sure if you have discounted these or not, so let us know....if they are yours, then someone will probably find them in the earlier censuses for you!

Cheers

Jocelyn

Hi Jocelyn

Yes - these are my Scourfields!!

Are you related to them?

I have registered with Ancestry and I have found Benjamin and his family in all of the census returns from 1841 to 1901.  But nothing before!  Can someone help?

No relation - just read your message a tad wrong!

so I then got serious and found a John SCOURFIELD b 1745 to David SCOURFIELD and Anne PHILLIPS

The only child on IGI - it will best to order the film from your local Family History Centre as there seem to be a few families around the area - plus some very early wills which may prove helpful ( if you can read them!)

Cheers

Jocelyn
