Just a note to keep this out there and remind people who can make it to Syracuse April 21 to be there or... well just be there ;). I have a couple places in mind that are very easy to the New York State Thruway. I will make the calls to those places and set something definite up probably in March, when we have more solid numbers, and will then let all know. So post here or PM me or Granma Anne and let us know if you can make it. All welcome ;D

Other regions, start planning your own, even if it's just 2 or 3 people getting together. It will be nice to meet for an afternoon regardless. Maybe if we get regionals going here in the states we can then get a bigger meet with a few different regions.

Hi all!  :)
I just want to keep this in the active list.
Sure glad we are not planning a meeting for this month- Parts of the New York region above Syracuse have gotten over nine and a half feet of snow in the last couple of weeks. (9.5 FT.).  I complained about two measly inches!

If this meet goes well I will try and get something going in MA some time in August-September.  Just a one day casual "Hi! How are you" type of thing.

Remember April 21st, Syracuse for lunch and a big howdy y'all!

Granma Anne -

Any additional information about the upstate New York meeting?

Hopefully the snow will have dissipated by then. Our snow may be gone here in Virginia but the ice has remained behind. Just lovely trying to get out and get errands, chores or whatever accomplished.

Oh well Spring should be here next month.

Regards,

Hello,

We (I) have been fortunate to have had a warm winter this year. Before Valentine's day we only had two snow squalls that left about two inches each time and an occasional overnight dusting of the flaky white stuff. Everyone was marveling at how mild this winter was. then it turned cold- very cold. So, we put up with that. After all it is the middle of the fourth season. Why does the fourth season appear in January, February and March?

Well the day for hearts and flowers and chocolate candy shows up and we get blasted. I had been feeling sorry for all those who were doing their best to cope with the lake effect snows to the west and north of me. February 14th into the 15th it snowed here and it snowed, and it snowed. I have a large parcel of property. When I get snow it can range from scant to knee deep within a hundred feet around my house. Well this storm ranged from mid shin to up the hiney within 50 feet of the house. The guy who plows my driveway had to have made four trips in the two days of the storm. So that's it I have told the weather wizard he made his point. I don't need or want any more of that stuff on my lawns or trees or my roof. Thankfully the longest month of the year is now 3/4ths of the way past. March will fly by and soon it will be April. Crocus and daffodils come on up. We're watching for you!

Kath we haven't heard from you in a bit- did you survive the onslaught?

We did survive. We had about 3 feet. My hubby was out on the porch roof one day shoveling, as it was very deep. It is almost 40 today. The kids have used up their snow days for the year. I can't complain, as one of my brother is in Pulaski. My mom just came down from Northern NY to watch the kids so we could go to NYC and she almost didn't make it. She went back this afternoon to prepare for the next lake effect for tomorrow and Friday.  :o :o

I did some research in NYC and unfortunately, not as productive as I would have hoped, but still fun to be there, and it turned very mild while there, which was nice.

I am sure March will fly right by and it will be time for our meet up. I am pretty sure I am just going to stick with an Applebee's or some such. I think that makes the most sense. It's all about the company anyway. I will give all the details in a few weeks. I am still waiting on head count, but regardless, we are still on.

I remember an April snowstorm. We all should remember that April snowstorm, Nearly Easter and it bloomin well buried us! I was crossing the Hudson River on the Patroon Island bridge and could not see at all.  Crawling along at ten miles per hour. I stopped and got out to clear my window. I was worried about some idiot behind me running into me. When I looked back there were seven other cars I could see doing what I was doing. When I got to my exit traffic was at a stand still. I saw two ruts in the road and aimed my car down them. I rolled down the ramp with the underbelly of my car scraping snow. I got on to the local road and decided to take the long way round to my home. Good thing I did because the closer road was impassable. I made it to within one mile of my place when I got stuck. I had to leave my car. I trudged relentlessly through white fluff up to my knees. My feet were freezing and my snow boots only kept me from falling. The tops of them were below the snow line. I made it into a local business and nearly collapsed. They were kind and one of them drove me the quarter mile home and another went and tied a tow line to my car and dropped it off in my driveway. The storm was so fast and unexpected that the schools couldn't close. They kept the kids until late in the evening. They let the buses transport kids home and then the one that brought my daughter home got stuck out at our corner. We had to call the school and have them come and rescue the remaining kids.  I think that was April 18 or 19 in 1986 or 87. We all remember that April snowstorm!
