Charles SCHOFIELD - Gainsborough-bap, marriage, death ?

Hi all,

After a devastating computer crash, and a reloading of PAF, my computer has decided my backed up PAF files are 'damaged'. Some of my stuff is printed off, some not. Curses...

Anyway. Could anyone find me some dates for my grandad Charles SCHOFIELD, son of Arthur (Mech Engineer) and Annie ?

Charles was 5 in 1901 (I have some census stuff saved in Word) and was born in Gainsborough.

He married Mabel GOODHAND in Gainsborough, and died young, in about 1949/50, again in Gainsborough.

Any help recovering these dates would be much appreciated.

I can't believe my computer did this to me, backed up files and all !

Charles was 5 months in 1901 - not 5, if this is him:

Annie Eliz. Schofield/Wife/M/35/Wrexham, Wales.

Annie Schofield/Dau/1/Gainsborough, Lincs.
Charles Schofield/Son/5 months/Gainsborough, Lincs.

There is a birth for Charles Herbert Schofield registered in Gainsborough between Oct-Dec 1900, volume 71 page 682.

Can you remember roughly which year Charles married Mabel?  I guess it would be 1920's but FreeBMD doesn't cover that period yet so its a question of searching the Index quarter by quarter and year by year!

That census was a mix up on my part.

Marriage...date, I'd say 25/26. My mum was  born in 29, and was in the middle of a family of 8.

I'm not having much luck with the death.  I've searched from the beginning of 1947 to the end of 1952 but I haven't spotted him.  Can you dredge up any more clues, i.e. do you remember how old he was?
