Newell/Loughery - Philipstown

I am looking for any information on the Newel (Newell)/Loughrey (Loughery) families possibly from Philipstown, Co Offaly.  My g grandmother was Mary Newell and she married Thomas Loughery (Loughrey).  Where and when they were married is not known.  They were living in Dublin City from at least 1886 when a daughter Anne was born.  Any information greatly received.

hi my 6xgrt grandfather was william loughrey brn in 1800, im unsure of where but he married a woman called alice donelly. this may not be relative to your ancestors, but thought maybe you maybe have heard of him because its the same surname

Do you have any later information on this Loughrey?  I cant find my file at the moment but I will keep looking for it.  Just moved house so things yet to unpack!  Loughrey/Loughery is not a common name so there could be some connection.  Cheers and Happy New Year!

all i know is that he died in

him and alice donnelly
had a son, his details are as follows:

im unsure of when and how his name had been changed but william also died with the surname loughrey and his parents are not on his death cert.
at the time of edwards marriage in 1858 williams wife alice was already dead, it would be good to find a match somewhere as ive been searching for over 5 years now. merry christmas and good luck with your new house, i myself have just moved and still have loads to unpack. x

the details that seanmac posted are Loughrey 1901 census extract details  that he located, that could be descendants of the people mentioned earlier in this thread.

The surname Loughrey (and variations) is actually not that uncommon in Northern Ireland and it shouldn't be assumed that anyone with the surname is related to others with the same surname.
As with all research, you need to go through all available sources step-by-step in a locagical manner. With Irish research the two most inmportant pieces of information needed to start searching is a family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland) not just the county.
