Hi William Nisbet and Catherine Paterson were my 3xgt grandparents.  Their son, Robert, was my 2xgt grandfather and his son, William my gt grandfather.   There were other children born in Falkirk parish -  James in 1808 and Henry in 1810 before they moved to Old Monkland.  A further child, Thomas, was born around 1821,but his baptism was never recorded.  William died in about 1834 and Catherine about 1848.
I would love to share the information I have on the family.

Fantastic, William was my 4Th Gt Grandfather, his son Thomas my 3rd Gt Grandfather, his son John my 2ND Gt Grandfather, who moved from Uphall West Lothian to Prestonpans, his son John who married Helen Deans Fraser was my Great Grandfather, his son John was my Grandfather who moved from Prestonpans, East Lothian to Musselburgh, his son James was my father. What a small world. If you want I can share my tree which is on Ancestry, called James Anthony Nisbet tree.

I would love to share your tree information as I have been collecting Nisbets for many years.  William & Catherine moved from Falkirk to Old Monkland, presumably for work, just before William was born.  I don't know what happened with their first two sons, but since another two sons bear the same names I assume they must have died.  When I don't know and have been trying to find out if they died in Falkirk or when they came to Old Monkland.
Best regards

I've had a lot of help from a lady called Jean Skar who also does a lot of work for the Nisbet magazine  and what she doesn't know about the Nisbet's isn't worth knowing. As well as Ancestry we have put a lot of information on WikeTree. If you have good information that William was from the Falkirk area, it may be possible that his tree went back towards Bo'ness, if so there is about 3 generations going back.
What's strange is that I have moved from Musselburgh to Bo'ness, the first person I came across when I started looking for our line, was a James Nisbet who was a writer (lawyer) in Bo'ness, 1691.
Where have you got a lot of your information from, I generally use various web sites, but I find more going into Edinburgh to the records office.

Gainsborough's blue boy was once owned by Nesbitts..

I remember from clicking on stuff I can across a book "The Book of the Nesbitts" which had a huge Genealogy of them incuding those in Ireland.
