MAJORS in Epworth area.
« on: Saturday 30 December 06 20:21 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the parents of Thomas Major who on censuses claimed he was born in Belton Lincs in 1792. I haven't had any luck with Belton and wondered if he had been baptized elsewhere. Thanking you in advance. Keith.

Hi Keith,
I have looked at Epworth and Owston Ferry. There are families called Major or Mager in both areas but sadly I couldn't find a Thomas. Have you tried spelling it Mager in the Belton records?
Happy hunting,
Kate.
Thornton, Pigford, Toaduff: County Durham.
Anderson, Parkin, Farnsworth, Broomhead: Lincs and Notts.
Kane: Liverpool / Ireland.

Hi Kate, Thank you for your reply. In my search for Thomas the name Major has been spelt Major, Mager, Magor, Majer , Maygor and Mayjer. I will have to try searching using  another instead of Major and see if I get any results. Best wishes, Keith.
