The King did not go to John petherick Harris' funeral, but he did stand guard at Queen Victoria's funeral. (so some truth to the family stories I have heard)
I did manage to find a couple of very detailed obit in one of the papers in Devon - one of them described his whole funeral and the other gave a lot of details about his life.
if people have not done it already I really recommend the newspaper search, I have found out so much and it now can be done online.
