In a national online 'phone book in the search for Lewes it shows, in the surrounding areas

9 x Attrell

2 x Attrill

0 x Attreal and/or Attreall

:D The NA show one Charles Attrill in Registers of Seamen's Services born 24 Sept 1855  :-\ Place of Birth Southampton Hampshire.

Why don't their births show up on Ancestry ????
could it be a derivation we have not discovered?

Annie .....do you think it could be this one?

Henry Atrill  to either Minnie Ellen Bryant
                                    Mable Mary Orton
    all on same page...2b 788 Portsmouth 1903 Q1.

Maybe too early if no children?

Hi Taz !

I like that one ! - I saw it too !!  :) ............ I just wish we didn't have so many different spellings !!  :-\

My thought being .... if he's being in the army for a length of time .... he would be able to spell his name the correct way ...... he wasn't illiterate !

so which is the correct way  ?? :P :P :P

By the way another RootsChatter sent me this to post .......  ::) ::) ( too shy I guess !!  ;)  )

William Attreall ..... able seaman ....... HMS Shannon ....... Indian Mutiny Medal

Hi Annie....know what you mean it's been different each time.

Back to possible marriage...not the Bryant link as MMN of Bryant is given for a birth in 1914 in Portsmouth.

Hi all  :D

I have tried to read this thread carefully - sorry if I missed something  :P

Has this marriage already been ruled out?  ???

March 1906
Devonport 5b 519
Henry Attreal to Harriett Grace Hamley or Elizabeth Ann Pyne

There's also
June 1899
Isle of Wight 2b 1266
Henry Attrill - Ada Maud Wallis

but I can't remember if he was found in 1901  :-X
