What websites have used exhaustively eg
www.familysearch.com
www.caora.net search for Donaghadee or Copeland Islands
www.ulsterancestry...
??
Have you made contact withe a large Patton line in Ireland
Do you know there is a manuscript Patton tree in Vol 25 of  in Blackwood Family history manuscript trees in LinenHall library, Belfast.
I suggest you ask them for photocopying estimates if they think your knowledge relevant and be prepared to pay the extra for post and packing. However if the material is really relevant when you get it, I suggest a further donation to this unique library that is always needing extra funds. Linen Hall Library,17 Donegall Square North, Belfast BT15GB, Northern Ireland, Telephone: +44 (0)28 9032 1707,  Fax: +44 (0)28 9043 8586, Email:info[at]linenhall.com.

Jim,

Thank you so much.  I had not heard of Linen Hall or or the Ross Davies site.

I am a fully paid member of ancestry and uk genealogist but have run into dead ends.

Thank you so much for another avenue to check out.

Have a great Christmas and may 2008 be kind to you.

Kind regards

Leonie

Hi ,

I would be very interested in any information that you may have regarding my paternal line.  The name Matear I have since found out is usually spelt Matier. My great grandmother was Sophia Matier married Thomas Patton, lived in Donaghadee.

My eldest uncle William (Willie)- These are my notes in regards to William- William has an inscription on the gravestone of his uncle Richard Emerson, which is in the Copeland Is Graveyard it reads " Also her nephew Wm.Patton who was lost at sea through enemy action in Feb 1942. Safe in the arms of Jesus. At rest".

I eagerly await your reply.

Kind regards and many thanks

I am not very familiar with the Emerson line, more the Clegg line. Richard Clegg, from Copeland Island, was an ancestor of my wife's and he married Esther Emerson. If I find anything I will let you know.  Johnny Conn

Hi once again Johnny,

I have connections to both Clegg and Emerson.

My g/grandfather Thomas Patton m Sophia Matier and their children were

David Patton - died train accident Bangor/Dublin train line occ train driver
Eliza Patton  - married Richard Archer CLEGG
Anne Patton - married James EMERSON
William Patton - my grandfather m Mary Elizabeth McNEILL

My great aunt Eliza (Lizzie) Patton married Richard Archer Clegg born c1897, they were married 19 Sept 1923 in Donaghadee and had two children Archer Clegg and Betty Clegg. When Richard died Lizzie emigrated to New Zealand with the children.

Anne Patton c1896, Lizzies sister married James Emerson, they had a daughter Winifred.  Anne emigrated to NZ with Winifred after the death of James and she was cremated and interred with my grandparents at Andersons Bay cemetery, Dunedin.

I have a photo of James with Anne and Winifred.  Winifred would be about 4yrs old

I am originally NZ born but have lived in Aust for the last 20 years.  My g/grandfather Thomas and his brother emigrated to NZ followed by my grandfather.
