Hello Binge,

I wondered whether you ever got anywhere with Mary Feest & William Hobden, they would have been my great x 5ish grandparents and I'm eager to know, like you who Mary's parents were...

Kind Regards,

JFST.

I have just come accross your message re Mary Feest & William Hobden that (I think) you posted on 19/07/2010.
What other info have you on the Feest family history?

In your last message of some time ago you said  that William Hobden & Mary Feest were ancestors of yours.

Therefore we must be distant cousins.
Do you belong to Genes Reunited as I have comprehensive tree of the family there.

Did you find your info in Falmer?  Sussex Uni is there and the village itself is tiny made up of a few roads of houses really.  I live close by and don't mind checking the local churches if they hold records.

I have tried East Sussex County records, but they only came back with what I already knew: my 4xGreat Grand Mother Mary Feest/Feast  - born circa 1740 -was living in Falmer when  she gave birth to her (apparently) only child William (born c1771). Father William Hobden. Whether she married him is unclear, but her son William retained the Feest surname.
What no one seems to know is who her parents were or where she was born. I have found three Mary Feests that fit the bill, but they all were married elsewhere, and are only possible distant relations. Willliam Hobden is also an enigma.

But many thaks for your offer of help!! I hope you can find something!!
