BEEDHAMS of Claypole
« on: Sunday 17 December 06 16:00 GMT (UK) »

Hi Alan,

You have the birthdate, so do you have the birth certificate for John William BEEDHAM?  I expect you have this reference already but just in case,

Birth

Thanks Daisy,

I have the information from John William's birth and death certificates, however these aren't helping much. In the 1891 and 1901 censuses there are no signs of any Beedhams in Brighton and I cannot locate the father or John W Beedham in any other location in England. I quess the family must have cleared off to India by then?

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan,

It's possible they were abroad for the censuses or maybe his mother had remarried, or he's just hiding under some awful mistranscription :-\

What were his parents names?

Hi Daisy,

James, a Gardener and Gorden (m/s) Turtle.

I've tried all the usual mispellings, Budham,Beadham, Beecham, etc., but to no avail.

Good work Daisy!

I think the niece's birthplace may be Waddington.

Thanks Daisy and Geoff,

There is something not quite right, James Beedham died March 1892 in Wandsworth
I've sent the info. that you have posted to William John Beedham's great-grandson Geoffrey, who lives in Pasadena, Los Angeles. Geoffrey and his siblings have been trying to find their English roots for the past twenty years but have remained stuck at Brighton 1885. I have been working from transcripts of the birth and death certificates that they sent to me, I have now placed an order for  the full copies from the ONS. I will let you know if I glean any more info from these certificates when they arrive.

Dear Alan,

I am a Beedham,  a member of the family you were researching in 2006.

I am a son of Derrick William Beedham (b1918),  brother of Ian and half brother of Christopher.

I have been trying to find information concerning my grandfather  John William Beedham (b1885).

Any information you found out after posting this thread would be very helpful. Do you publish the results of your researches anywhere?   (ancestry.com/uk?).

I am a beginner at this game, but believe you may have found the wrong parents for John William,  so maybe I can help you?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Nigel
