I forgot that there are two pages to the Canadian border crossings and the second page for that of Jean Finch Hatton confirms that she was born in Glasgow and arrived in Quebec on the same ship and same date as her alter ego, Renee Glendower.

On the 1920 census, Renee Finch Hatton is a saleslady in East 15th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She is listed twice in the street directory as:-
Renee Hatton, a saleswoman living at apartment 10, 22 East 15th Street, Minneapolis.
Hatten Renee J Finch, a saleswoman at Donaldson's living at apartment 10, 22 East 15th Street, Minneapolis.

There are no further records of this person.

However, in 1921, Renee Glendower is living there but at a different address and is now a nurse.
Renee Glendower, a nurse at 3452, 43rd Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In 1927 she is Rene Glendower, widow of Claude (Clifford?), living at 3752 Colfax Avenue, Minneapolis.

In the 1928 Minneapolis directory, Mrs Rene Glendower is listed as having moved to Chicago, Illinois.

In 1930 she is a nurse living in Levington? Avenue, Evanston, Illinois.

There are no further records, which could mean that she remarried in or after 1930.

I believe my Grandmother, Kate Barrs, was a dresser at the theatre around 1900s. Does anyone have any information about her?

A person of that name appears on the 1901-1911 censuses, wife of Walter Barrs, but no occupation is given.

Thanks David,

Yes that is her, she had first child 1902. What I am trying to find out is her maiden name before marrying Walter. So far had no luck.

I can't find a marriage which should be c1899.

In her will, she named her daughter, Emma Kathleen, the wife of William Herbert Medhurst. They married in 1940 but both first names are incorrect in one index - Emme and Harbert.

It seems as though Emma's birth certificate, or one of her sisters, might be the only way of finding out.
