It's difficult to tell whether he is wearing the blue and white stripes of Wednesday or the red and white of United
Perhaps your best bet would be to send a copy of the pic to the sports editor of the Sheffield Star - he may be interested in publishing it to see if anyone recognises him.

Hi Mercel,
Have a look and see what you think:
Sheffield Wednesday:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0102/
Sheffield United:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0103/
On the first link there is a very similar type of shirt - Back, middle player, standing.
Regards,
Pels

Just a quick thought. If the photographer was based in Langsett Road, it would more likely be Sheffield Wednesday. Langsett Road is in Hillsborough - home of Sheffield Wednesday (Blue and White stripes).
But of course Sheffield United play in Red and white Stripes

tHANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP. I HAVE LOOKED AT BOTH WEDNESDAY AND UNITEDS SITES AND YES PEL I AGREE THAT MIDDLE SHIRT DOES LOOK SIMILAR. tHE ORIGINAL PHOTO LOOKS VERY LIGHT STRIPES WITH A REDDISH TINGE BUT OBVIOUSLY THIS COULD BE JUST THE SEPIA COLOURS AND AGE OF THE PHOTO.

Hi gadget
just looked on that site and it is very good with names. We have Forsters in the family, there is a Bill Forster 1903 played for Wednesday which could be a possibility. Will let you know once I have registered with site.
