firstly you might want to try http://www.familysearch.org/ for Samuel,s father.  He could be listed on the 1881 Census.  I did try for you but it's down again :(  Should be ok later today.....just keep trying.

I've also looked in the NBI 2  ( National Burial Index 2nd edition) and there are a few Cusworths buried in Doncaster but none that totally match who you are looking for.

There is a Martha Ann buried 29th Nov 1928 aged 67 at Hyde Park Cemetery, Doncaster.  She's the nearest match.

It looks like you need to get to see the parish records then once you have a possible birth for Samuel in 1905 you can order his birth certificate.  You'll then get details of his parents and can look up their marriage.

It's possible that FreeBDM have not fully transcribed all the records for Doncaster as yet.

If you ring the library they might offer a lookup service it should only cost you a couple of quid.

Good luck
Fitty

Hi Sylvia,

Sorry I can't help you with the search, but I was born in Sheffield and had an Aunt who lived at Intake, which is on the outskirts of Sheffield.   Have you tried searching Sheffield rather than Doncaster?

Good luck.

I have a Samuel Cusworth who married a Mary Ann on my tree form the 1901 Census Im trying to confirm that there son Christopher is my great Grandad. Anyway Samuel is not listed there but as he would have been born in 1905 he wouldnt be there...there is

Mary Ann 51
Maud 14
Raymond 10
Samuel 49
Christopher 19
Crowther 21
George 26
Martha J 24

Im not sure Christopher is the one Im looking for as all I have to go on at the moment is that hes called that and that he lived in Armley and thats where these lot lived in 1901. Samuel was born in Horbury (wakefield area)

I think the wife was Martha Ann.
Another volunteer at Doncaster FHS says that she knew Brian Cusworth. They were at the same primary school.
He was born in 1934 and died in 1994.
The volunteer is going to make further enquiries and will let me know.
