O'Hagan or possibly Hagan

My gr gr grandmother was Catherine O'Hagan.  I was always told she was from County Armagh.  She was born about 1823 and married Charles Leadbeater.  I would love to find more information on her if anyone is able to help.  Thank you in advance.

Hello Carol,

There are three items you require when searching for Irish ancestors.

1. Denomination.
2. Parish
3. Townland.

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Many thanks for the advice - sadly I don't think I can go anywhere with this one.

I think she was a Catholic as the children were all brought up in that faith, but I have no other information.  I found on a UK census that she gave her place of birth as County Mayo, but other than that, I think this is a dead end for me.

Have connection to Denis Hagan b about 1823. Recruited into the army at Newry  Ireland. Enlisted at Liverpool 27 May 1845 age 22. I suspect he was from Mullaghbrack Co Armagh.

There's a long list of families named Hagan in the Valuation extracts on the failteromhat.com website which was created by John Hayes. I've only shown
those from Mullaghbrack.

Hello,
I am trying to trace the O'Hagan family in Armagh.
My GG grandmother was Mary O'hagan Who married Michael McCrink 08/10/1874 in Jonesborough RC church. On the marriage certificate it says that her father was Owen O'hagan (deceased)
I would be grateful if anybody could give me an idea as to who Mary or her fathers siblings were or her Mother.
The certificate gives Carrickbroad as her address.
If anybody has a connection with my O'Hagan line then i would be pleased to hear from you.
