Hi, I am the third great granddaughter of Lydia Cooper and John Hughes. I was stumped on the name Crummet or Crompett, but Cooper explains things. John and Lydia married July 23, 1832 in tipton, Staff. But there was a child, Matilda in 1830 in Dudley, Worcester. Was she the child of John Crumpett or John Hughes --I wonder. Never found John Hughes parents, but might be John and Mary of Bilston.
Here are my notes:
John Hughes was born 1806 in Bilston, Staffordshire. He marries Lydia Crummet born 1801, in Brierley Hill, Worcester, on July 23, 1832 in Tipton, Staffordshire, England
Christening records were also found on the Family History Library-International Genealogical Index computer records for this family.
Children of Lydia and John:
Matilda, 1 Feb. 1830 ( Matilda was born before their legal marriage in 1832)
Thomas, 10 Mar. 1833
Henry, 7 Sep. 1834
Catherine, 23 July, 1837.
John and Lydia have two children who have expired by 1841. They were Matilda born 1830 and Thomas born 1833 in Dudley, Worcester, England

In 1858 daughter, Catherine married Charles Causier. They move a short distance away in Sedgely, Staffordshire. Their son, Henry also marries in this year to Sarah Jane Nicklin and they make their home in Worcester.
John Hughes Senior is not found in the 1861 Census, nor is he listed in the England death index. It is likely however, that he has passed away because his wife Lydia states that she is a widow in 1861. Daughter, Catherine and her husband, Charles Causier are now living in Sedgely, Staffordshire

Lydia Hughes widow born 1801 in Brierley Hill, Worcestershire

Mrs. Lydia Hughes the widow dies in 1862 in Dudley, Staffordshire.
1871 Daughter, Catherine and her husband are now living in Castleford, Yorkshire--remaining in this place until 1881, when they moved to America, settling in Bay View, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Son, Henry and his wife Sarah remain in Worcester with their family.
Daughter, Naomi married Joshua Austin in 1874, Dudley, Staffordshire. They have three children but it is believed that two died young.
John Hughes parents might be John and Mary of Bilston, Staffordshire, England but not sure
