GORDON WILSON
« on: Wednesday 06 December 06 01:16 GMT (UK) »
I found one Gordon Wilson on the CWGC with the following information:

Name: Wilson, Gordon
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Gunner
Regiment/Service: Scots Guard
Unit Txt: 2nd Bn.
Age: 23
Death of Date: 05/08/1917
Service No. 15152
Additional Information:Son of Mrs. Jane Wilson, of 267, Great Northern Rd., Woodside. Aberdeen.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead

I have reason to believe that this Gordon Wilson was born in Gamrie Banff but I am not sure. I am looking for Gordon Wilson son of William Wilson and Jane Wilson, born in Gamrie, Banff in 1894.I want to know if Jane was buried in Aberdeenshire and I also want to know if there are war memorials there that might have the name of Gordon Wilson.
Thanks! :)

Hi

On the 1901 Scottish census you'll find the family in Gamrie, Banff.  Spelling will be Gorden WILSON, age 6.

A search for his BC on Scotlandspeople is easily found in Gamrie in 1894.  According to this his mother's mn is YOUNG and parents were married 1882 in Gamrie.

Then go run a search on SP for the death of Jane YOUNG WILSON.  You'll get a whole page full of possibles but there is only one in Aberdeen in 1935 at age 81.  You'll see that the address aligns with the info from the CWGC.

Looks like you've got a match  :)

Best wishes
Jean

Jean,
You are heaven sent!!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!
Now all I need to check is if Gordon had a twin brother named James. I was informed that Irvine had twin brothers and his sister had twins in Australia who she named Gordon and James. Was going crazy about Gordon because the 1901 census search I did on Scotlands people does not place him in Banff and now I know why.
You are an angel Jean!!!
Thanks Again! ;D
